How to Make a WordPress Chart With AI for Free

You have the number. You just need a good way to show it.

It might be sitting in a PDF, buried in a spreadsheet, or somewhere in your notes. Turning it into a clean, useful chart can feel like more work than it should.

Start with whatever you already have

Whatever shape your data is already in, the AI will take it. A table you copied, a sentence with the numbers in it, or a picture of the chart you want. Nothing to prepare first, and nothing to retype.

There are three ways in, and none of them needs a file.

Paste the table. Copy rows from a spreadsheet or document and drop them straight into the prompt box, then tell it what to do with them.

Just describe it. Put the numbers in the sentence. Nothing has to be loaded first, and the AI will build the data along with the chart.

Hand it a picture. If the chart you want already exists in a PDF, a report or a slide, use Reference image under the prompt box. Give Visualizer the chart you’re working from and ask it to recreate or adapt it, without manually rebuilding everything from scratch.

If you are on Pro, there is another option: point the AI at a spreadsheet, a CSV or XLSX file, or a URL from the data source tabs, and sync will keep the chart current when the numbers change.

Each instruction builds on the last, so you keep shaping the chart without starting over. Change the layout, adjust the labels, fine-tune the colors, or ask for anything else you want to see.

More Ways to Build With AI

Ask for the chart you have in mind. The classic builder has a fixed set of chart types. With AI, you can describe the visualization you want, whether that’s a scatter plot, radar chart, or something else, and it can build it for you.

See the chart as you work. The preview sits beside the prompt, so you can see your changes as you make them. Ask for a different layout, adjust a label, change a color, or try another direction.

Build on a powerful visualization library. Every chart Visualizer AI creates is built with D3.js, the JavaScript library for creating data-driven visualizations. That means you’re not locked into a simplified AI-generated graphic. If you want to take things further, Edit code gives you direct access to the chart’s D3 code.

Use the language you’re most comfortable with. Write your prompt in German, Spanish or French and the chart comes back labelled in that language. Follow-up changes work in the same language too.

What We Learned From Two Months of Real Use

Everything below comes from the last two months of real use. We looked at prompts as a group to see what people were actually doing, not just what we thought they would do.

A few things surprised us.

How we did this. We looked at prompts as a group, with no names attached. No site names, no personal details, and no prompt is quoted word for word. We give percentages rather than counts. Two months is not a long time, and this is our own product, so take what follows as a direction, not a verdict.

This chart was made with Visualizer AI, using the data we found: 1 prompt 41%, 2 prompts 25%, 3 to 4 prompts 15%, 5 to 9 prompts 12%, and 10 or more 7%. We asked it for a horizontal bar chart and told it to label the bars with the percentages.

Two in five prompts arrived with the sample data still sitting there. Our first read of that was harsh: people were just poking at it. Then we looked at the prompts, and most were long, specific, and real. They had put their data in the prompt box because that was the only box in front of them. We built it for sentences. People used it as a front door, and they were right to.

About a quarter of prompts on live sites were not in English. Six languages in two months. Our favourite: someone asked, in everyday Spanish, for a cheese chart, which is what a pie chart is called in Spanish. It understood. It has understood every time.

Also made with Visualizer AI. We entered the language data and asked: “Sort highest first and put the percentages outside the bars. Use the following brand colours: #0E7C8B and #9FD5DE.” Then one fix: “Move the labels outside the bars.”
