One company can buy 10, 20, or 50 seats of your course in a single order. But companies only buy training when two things are easy: getting their whole team enrolled, and getting proof that each person finished.
This guide shows you how to set up both on your own WordPress site with the free Masteriyo LMS plugin, using three of its features:
- Group pricing: sell your course as a team package, such as 10 seats for $790.
- Bulk enrollment: add a whole team at once by pasting emails or uploading a CSV.
- Course certificates: give every learner a certificate automatically when they complete the course.
We’ll also cover taking payment, which features need Masteriyo Pro, and a free tool for creating certificates for live or in-person training.
Quick disclosure: Masteriyo is part of the Themeisle family, the same team behind this blog. We tested every step below on the current free version (3.4.2) and marked the features that need Masteriyo Pro.
The short answer: With the free Masteriyo plugin, you can sell a course as a team package (for example, 10 seats for $790), enroll a whole team by pasting emails or uploading a CSV, and have a certificate issued automatically to each learner who completes the course. Variable seat counts and multiple team packages per course need Masteriyo Pro.
What companies look for when they buy a course
Before the setup, it helps to know what a business buyer is actually checking for:
| What the company needs | How you’ll provide it |
|---|---|
| Buy seats for several people at once | A team package with a fixed number of seats |
| Get everyone enrolled without admin work | Enrollment by email list or CSV upload |
| Proof that each person completed the training | A certificate issued to each learner on completion |
| A course that looks professional | Your own branded site and certificate design |
Everything in this table is included in Masteriyo’s free plugin.
What you’ll need
- A WordPress site. If you don’t have hosting yet, plans in our tested guide to the best WordPress hosting start from $2.69/month.
- The free Masteriyo LMS plugin.
- A course. New to building one? Our guide to creating an online course with WordPress covers it step by step.
Step 1: Turn on the Groups add-on
Masteriyo sells team packages through its Groups add-on, which is included in the free plugin.
- In your WordPress dashboard, go to Masteriyo → Addons.
- Search for Groups.
- Switch it on.
A new Groups item appears under Masteriyo → Users, where you can see every team that has bought your course.

Step 2: Create a team package for your course
Next, give your course a price for individuals and a separate price for teams.
- Go to Masteriyo → Courses, open your course, and click the Settings tab.
- Under Pricing, choose Paid and enter the price for one person, like $99. (Group pricing only shows up on paid courses.)
- Open Group Pricing and switch on Sell to Groups.
- Fill in your team package using the table below.
- Click Publish (or Update if the course is already live).
| Field | What to enter | Our example |
|---|---|---|
| Seat Model | Fixed Seats (Variable Seats needs Pro) | Fixed Seats |
| Group Name | The package name buyers see | Team of 10 |
| Group Size | How many people the package covers | 10 |
| Regular Price | The price for the whole team (a one-time payment) | $790 |

Now your course has two ways to buy: a single seat, or a team package. In our example, the team price works out to $79 per person, a discount that makes the bigger purchase easy to approve.
💡 PRO TIP: Price team packages so the per-seat cost is lower than a single seat, and say so on your course page. A buyer comparing “10 × $99 = $990” with “$790 for the team” does the math instantly.
What needs Pro: the free plugin gives each course one team package with a fixed number of seats, like “Team of 10 for $790.” Masteriyo Pro adds variable seats, where buyers choose how many seats they need and the price per seat can drop for bigger teams (for example, $25 a seat for 5 people, down to $15 a seat for 30). Pro also lets you offer more than one package per course, like “Small Team” and “Enterprise” side by side.
Step 3: Enroll the whole team
When a company buys a team package, the buyer becomes the group leader and can add their team members by email from their account.
You can also enroll people yourself, which is handy when a company sends you a list of names and pays by invoice:
- Go to Masteriyo → Enrollments and click Add Enrollment.
- Pick the course.
- Add the learners in one of three ways: paste emails (separated by commas, spaces, or new lines), pick existing students, or upload a CSV of names and emails. There’s a Download sample CSV link with the right format.
- Click Continue, check the list, and confirm.

Bulk enrollment is included in the free plugin. For a company with 50 employees, uploading their HR list takes a minute instead of an afternoon.
Step 4: Give every learner a certificate
The certificate is what the company is really paying for, so set it up before the first team starts.
- Go to Masteriyo → Certificates and click Add New Certificate.
- Pick the free Course Completion Certificate template, or start from a blank canvas.
- Add your logo and branding. The template fills in each learner’s details automatically: student name, course title, completion date, course duration, start date, and instructor name.
- Click Publish.

Then attach it to your course:
- Edit the course and open Settings → Certificate.
- Switch on Enable Certificate and select the certificate you just created.
- Optionally, switch on Allow Certificate Sharing so learners can share it.
- Click Update.

From now on, each learner can download their certificate as soon as they complete the course, whether they bought a single seat or were enrolled as part of a team.
For a closer look at designing the certificate itself, see our guide to creating course certificates in WordPress.
What needs Pro: more certificate templates, QR-code verification (so an employer can check a certificate is genuine), and emailing the certificate to the learner automatically.
Step 5: Take payment
Masteriyo’s free plugin includes Stripe and PayPal checkout, plus offline payments for companies that pay by bank transfer or invoice. Set them up under Masteriyo → Settings → Payments.
Masteriyo doesn’t take a cut of your sales; you only pay your payment provider’s standard processing fees. For more on pricing and checkout, see our guide to selling online courses from your own website.
Running live or in-person training too?
Many trainers sell a mix: an online course for self-paced learners, and live workshops or in-person sessions for company teams. For those sessions, there’s no course to complete in your LMS, but attendees still expect a certificate.
That’s what Masteriyo’s free certificate generator is for. You stay in control of every certificate:
- Pick a template.
- Upload your logo so the certificate carries your brand.
- Fill in one attendee’s details, or upload a CSV with names, emails, and other fields for the whole group.
- Download every certificate in one click, with no watermark or Masteriyo branding, and share them however you like.
For a company workshop with 30 attendees, that means one upload instead of 30 certificates made by hand.
Use the generator for live sessions and one-off workshops. For your online courses, use the certificates built into Masteriyo LMS, which are issued automatically when a learner completes the course.
Honest limits
A few things to know before you pitch this to a large company:
- Team leaders see members, not progress. From their account, a group leader can manage who’s in the group and see which courses it includes, but not how far each person has got. If a company wants progress reports, Masteriyo Pro adds a Reports view for each course that shows every enrolled student’s progress, so you can check how the team is doing and share the numbers with the company.
- Certificates have no expiry date. If a company needs yearly re-certification, sell a new “renewal” course each year rather than resetting the old one, so the original record stays intact.
- One team package per course on the free plan. If you want to offer “Team of 10” and “Team of 50” on the same course, that needs Masteriyo Pro.

Go to Masteriyo → Enrollments → Add Enrollment, choose the course, and either paste a list of emails, pick existing students, or upload a CSV file. Masteriyo includes a sample CSV so you can match the format.
Yes. Once a certificate is attached to the course, every learner can download their own certificate when they complete the course, with their name, the course title, and the completion date filled in automatically.
Yes, with limits. The free plugin includes one fixed-seat team package per course, bulk enrollment, and certificates. Masteriyo Pro adds variable seats, per-seat and tiered pricing, multiple packages per course, and certificate verification.
Offer a lower per-seat price than a single purchase, so the team package is clearly the better deal. For example, if one seat costs $99, a team of 10 at $790 works out to $79 per person.
