The WooCommerce thank you page seems like a small part of your online operation. Customers look at it for a second or two, then move to other parts of the internet.
Yet, that doesn’t have to be the case.
In fact, wouldn’t you rather customers take time examining your WooCommerce thank you page, due to its creativeness and potential for more savings or product information?
By default, WooCommerce technically offers a thank you page, but there’s not much to it. That’s why we’ll show you how to customize the basic WooCommerce thank you page to add custom text and colors, while also including crucial elements like buttons to get customers to shop more or coupons to drive more sales.

What’s a WooCommerce “thank you” page?
The thank you page appears right after a customer clicks on the Place Order button.

It’s different from the thank you/receipt email in that it’s a redirect to a new webpage your customers see on your website.
However, the default thank WooCommerce page lacks creativity, and WooCommerce doesn’t let you customize any of the elements.

Our goal is to make a thank you page with more color, customized text, and useful modules to drive more sales.

How to make a custom WooCommerce “thank you” page
To create a custom WooCommerce thank you page, you can use the free NextMove Lite plugin, which is available at WordPress.org.
The NextMove Thank You Page plugin overrides the standard thank you page and automatically makes that confirmation section more appealing. Not to mention, you’re able to edit most elements on the page, leading to a well-branded WooCommerce thank you page.
To get started, install and activate the plugin. Click here if you need guidance installing a plugin.
As soon as you activate the plugin, it will already add a new customized thank you page. In the rest of the post, we’ll show you how to further customize that page to meet your needs.

Open the editing tools
To edit the new thank you page with your own content, go to WooCommerce > Settings in your WordPress dashboard.

In the settings area, select the NextMove Lite: XLPlugins tab.

The main configuration page includes a list of the thank you pages you have active. It also provides information on where and how the thank you pages run on your website – it shows these details on the right side of the page.

You can even click the See Order Preview button to look at the thank you page design without running a test order every time you want to view it.

Click Add New to start a thank you page from scratch.
Or, you can also click on the already-created thank you page to edit the existing design.

Stylize the order confirmation area
NextMove brings you to its own visual page editor, with four highlighted steps:
- Select Components
- Edit Component
- Choose Layout
- Arrange Components
Each module in the Select Component area serves a purpose on the thank you page. You can remove some or add more, while also editing the detailed settings for each one.
Starting out, click the Order Confirmation component.
This shows a list of settings and fields for the order confirmation area. Feel free to scroll through these to edit them as you please.
For example, you might edit the thank you page icon or add a new header or background color.

You could also change the icon, such as showing a gift icon instead of the checkmark:

All components provide tools to change things like headings and colors. Make sure you go through them all.

As an example, you can get more personal with the intro heading by adding the person’s name and some welcoming text.

Choose a WooCommerce thank you page layout
Although you can still edit the many other components, the Choose Layout section always allows you to switch from a one-column layout to a two-column layout.

The plugin also has a section called Arrange Components, where you drag-and-drop the components within the layout.

As you can see, we’ve moved around some components and made the thank you page a two-column design.

Customize the order details section
Next up, click on the Order Details component. Adjust everything from the heading to the description, and the alignment to the layout.
Note: You can enable or disable any component by using the Enable switch.

Make edits to the customer details section
The Customer Details component involves information on the thank you page, like address and name.
When editing the component, consider personalizing the text and incorporating a description that better fits your brand.

You can also change the colors for the component to draw attention to it:

Add a location map
The next component, called Location Map, inserts a map into the thank you page to show that your company has received the shipping information and the product is on its way.

As with all components, think about changing around the text, fonts, and colors surrounding the map. You can also configure the style of map and go into the NextMove settings to link to the Google Maps API (typically required in order for this feature to work right).

Add extra content sections to improve your thank you page
The Content section offers a few other components like:
- Single Text
- HTML
- Image Text
- Video
As you may realize, these open up seemingly infinite possibilities for designing your WooCommerce thank you page.
For example, you could add an Image Text box to prompt people to come back to the store if they forgot something.

An excellent reason to use the Image Text box is for the button and image capabilities.
You can upload a photo for some flare on the page, while also linking back to the main Shop.

The settings include options for which page to link to, the colors, and the button text.

The premium components from NextMove
Although the free, standard settings from NextMove offer much to boost the style and content in your thank you page, the premium components take it to a new level.
If you’d like to add more advanced functionality to your thank you pages, consider upgrading to the premium version of NextMove, starting at $29 per year.
Premium components include:
- Recently viewed
- Dynamic coupons
- Smart bribe
- Related products
- Social share
- Specific products
- Join us
- Cross-sell
- Upsells

Once you’ve configured everything, make sure you hit the Save button in the NextMove editor.
After that, go to the Preview (or process a test transaction) to view the new WooCommerce thank you page.
As you can see, we’ve incorporated new text, some color backgrounds, an image, a map, and a button to get people back to the store.
