John is a self-taught WordPress designer and developer. After ditching a traditional software engineering job for greener pastures, he discovered (and fell in love with) the WordPress community and open-source software. Since then, he’s created everything from simple portfolio websites for creatives to full-featured ecommerce websites for growing companies.

Hughes has been working with the CMS for over a decade. He has experience both as an independent freelancer and with WordPress development agencies. He’s also contributed to various theme and plugin development projects.

He’s dabbled in everything from accessible design to website security and maintenance. Plus, he has extensive knowledge of online business topics like SEO, dropshipping, and affiliate marketing. Hughes’ other areas of interest include emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and automation.

When he’s not working on a WordPress project or blogging about the CMS, Hughes spends his time teaching entrepreneurs how to generate passive income streams to improve work-life balance. His favorite coding languages are SQL and Java.
