How to take a screenshot of your computer for Windows and Mac<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
There are easy-to-use native screenshot programs on both the Windows and MacOS operating systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If you don’t like the look and feel of these programs, you can use an external app or tool to take your screenshots as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We’ll discuss all your available options in this section!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
How to take a computer screenshot on Windows<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
If you’re a Windows user, the absolute simplest way to take a screenshot of your entire screen area is with the Print Screen<\/strong> button, which is usually on the top right on most keywords. You can then use the Ctrl + V<\/strong> keyboard shortcut to paste the image.<\/p>\n\n\n\n However, this method doesn’t give you any control over what you take a screenshot of, so you’ll probably be happier using Windows’ built-in Snipping Tool<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n You can open the snipping tool by searching for \u201cSnipping Tool\u201d under your programs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Once you’ve opened the Snipping Tool, you can take a screenshot by clicking the New<\/strong> button and clicking and dragging to select the area that you want to screenshot:<\/p>\n\n\n You’ll then be able to add some basic annotation options from the Snipping Tool interface. And you can click the floppy disk icon to save your screenshot:<\/p>\n\n\n If you’re creating a tutorial for your website visitors, you’ll find the \u201cDelay\u201d option particularly useful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Say you’re walking your visitors through how to use Google’s Keyword Planner tool, for example, and you need to instruct them to click on \u201cTools\u201d and select \u201cKeyword Planner\u201d from the drop-down menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n To do this, simply select \u201cDelay: 2 Seconds\u201d<\/strong> on your Snipping Tool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Then navigate back to your Google Ads dashboard, click on \u201cTools\u201d, and wait for the Snipping Tool to capture that drop-down list.<\/p>\n\n\n Taking a screenshot on a Mac computer is also simple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If you want to capture a screenshot of your entire screen, press \u201cShift + Command + 3\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If you want to capture a portion of your screen, press \u201cShift + Command + 4\u201d<\/strong>. From here, click and drag the pointer to select the area that you want to screenshot.<\/p>\n\n\n Last but not least, if you want to take a screenshot of a particular window, press \u201cShift + Command + 4\u201d and the spacebar on your keyboard at the same time<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n When you do this, your pointer will morph into a camera icon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n From here, drag the camera icon on a window, then highlight and capture it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n To access your screenshots, head to your desktop. All your screenshots will be saved here, with their capture date as their filenames.<\/p>\n\n\n If you want more flexibility – like the ability to annotate your screenshots in more depth or blur certain content – you’ll probably be happier with a dedicated screenshot tool rather than using your operating system’s built-in functionality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Our favorite tool is Greenshot – you can download it here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Once you’ve installed the tool, Greenshot should start up immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n All you have to do is click on the \u201cPrint\u201d or \u201cPtrScr\u201d key, and you’ll see a crosshair that you can use to capture a screenshot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n After you capture your screenshot, Greenshot will prompt you with these options:<\/p>\n\n\n You can either save your screenshot or open it with Greenshot’s image editor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The image editor allows you to crop your screenshot, add text to it, and highlight parts of it. You can also add arrows to embellish your screenshot:<\/p>\n\n\n Pretty cool, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n LightShot<\/a> is another good option that works on both Windows and Mac. Many Mac users swear by Shotrr<\/a>, as well.<\/p>\n\n\n Now that you know how to screenshot on your computer, let’s talk about how you can add a screenshot to your WordPress<\/a> site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If you’ve ever added a picture to a WordPress page or post before, you’ll find adding a screenshot easy – the process is exactly the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n From your WordPress dashboard, navigate to \u201cPosts > Add New\u201d<\/strong>, then click on \u201cAdd Media\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n From here, click on \u201cUpload Files\u201d<\/strong> and \u201cSelect Files\u201d<\/strong>. Select your screenshot and wait for it to load.<\/p>\n\n\n Finally, click on \u201cInsert into post\u201d<\/strong>.
