Zillah wordpress theme

It’s been almost one year since we released Parallax One – our initial attempt to go on our own (no help from WordPress.org) and give back to the community. Long story short, it worked well … but I think we can do better. Here’s what I mean:

As you may already know if you follow our work, lately, I’ve focused quite a lot on optimizing our conversion rates over at ThemeIsle and CodeinWP. And while this has worked and helped our financial situation, I have developed this strong feeling that we can take things further.

You see, sometimes, I just feel like I’m a part of what Jeff Hammerbacher once mentioned … and not in a good way:

The best minds of my generation are thinking about how to make people click ads. That sucks.

So fast forward to today, one year after releasing Parallax One, we are just about to offer our best work for FREE, again.

But we’re taking it a step further. Apart from a new free WordPress theme that we have almost done, we’re planning to release all future add-ons for free as well.

So no paid extras, no locked features, no premium add-ons ever. Just a free, premium-quality WordPress theme, and free add-ons for life.

“Is this even sustainable? What’s the catch?”

Basically, there’s no catch. Our current development is founded through our other projects (thank you, paid customer), so we’re covered for now. And if the market ever changes, we’ll volunteer some of our time to keep the thing alive.

Why? This is part of our mission to give back to the community that has helped us to get to the point that we’re at right now. Without the people (you), there’s no us.

So what’s this new thing called?

Zillah is a beautiful blogging theme coded by Claudiu (ThemeIsle team) and designed by a super-talented designer, Ashley Schweitzer (thanks, Brian).

In short, it’s our best work. And you can (will be able to) get it for free.

Here’s a preview of Zillah:

You can contribute to the Zillah development here: https://github.com/codeinwp/zillah

Also, if you don’t have the means to contribute, but you have some ideas, just raise an issue on GitHub, and if enough people think it’s valid, it will likely get done.

The theme is still a work-in-progress at the moment, but as soon as we have a full review from themereview.co, we will release it to the public and upload it to WordPress.org too (although it might take a while to get it online there).

Our goal #1 right now is to make this accessible and available to as many people as possible. If you need a great-looking (and great-performing) blogging theme for free, it’s going to be perfect for you!
