Bluehost pricing is confusing. I’ve seen lots of people pay too much because they picked the wrong plan.
That’s why I made this clear, short guide. I’ll break down exactly what Bluehost charges – both over short and long term – what’s included, and what you really need. No fluff, no jargon.
By the end, you’ll know exactly which plan makes sense for you. If you’re already sure, jump right to the section you need below.
Bluehost shared hosting
Shared hosting tends to be the cheapest option across the board for most hosting companies. Bluehost isn’t the exception to that rule – its shared hosting plans start at $1.99 per month.
Basic | Choice Plus | Online Store |
---|---|---|
$1.99 / mo. | $3.99 / mo. | $7.45 / mo. |

Here’s the deal – the Basic $1.99 per month plan is one of the cheapest you can find on the web. This adds up to only $23.88 for the entire first year!
However, be aware that the prices rise a bit after that. Over the long term, you’ll end up paying the following amounts – over the three-, five- and ten-year terms:
Alternatively, Bluehost also offers three-year contracts instead of one-year. If that’s what you opt for, your monthly price will be $4.95 for the first term.
Which shared hosting plan you should get: 🏆 The entry-level Basic plan offers the best value for most users. It already lets you host multiple sites, and has all the basic features that a new website might need.
WordPress shared hosting
If you use WordPress as your website platform of choice – which we recommend you to do wholeheartedly(!) – you’ll want a web host that understands this CMS and optimizes its plans accordingly. Now, the interesting part is that Bluehost has a rather original approach at this task.
Basically, their main shared hosting plans – the ones we discussed earlier – already come optimized for WordPress and offer some features that will make your life with the platform easier. Just to name a few; you get: a free WordPress migration tool, free malware scanning, access to SSH and WP-CLI, managed updates of WordPress itself and PHP, caching of static content, object caching, and the possibility to spin up WordPress staging sites.
Compared to Bluehost’s lineup of shared hosting, the shared WordPress hosting offering adds one more higher-end plan. Here’s the entire offering, starting at, again, $1.99 per month:
Basic | Choice Plus | Online Store | Pro |
---|---|---|---|
$1.99 / mo. | $3.99 / mo. | $7.45 / mo. | $9.99 / mo. |
10 websites | 50 websites | 50 websites | 100 websites |
10 GB SSD Storage | 50 GB SSD Storage | 50 GB SSD Storage | 100 GB SSD Storage |

In the end, Bluehost’s shared WordPress hosting plans provide slight quality of life improvements if you want to use WordPress. This is all at the exact same prices as their standard shared hosting counterparts, which makes them a great deal.
If you’re an experienced WordPress user, you probably won’t care too much about those features. On the other hand, if you’re working on your first project, they will make your work easier.
Which shared WordPress hosting plan you should get: 🏆 Much like before, the entry-level Basic plan offers the best value for most users.
WooCommerce hosting
Out of all the types of plans Bluehost offers, their WooCommerce offerings are perhaps the most interesting. Bluehost pricing for WooCommerce plans starts at $7.45 per month:
Online Store | Online Store + Marketplace |
---|---|
$7.45 / mo. | $12.95 / mo. |
50 Websites | 100 Websites |
50 GB NVMe Storage | 100 GB NVMe Storage |

Multi-Channel Inventory Management |
As you may know, WooCommerce is a plugin that works on top of WordPress.
Since you don’t need any specific type of hosting plan to run an online store using WooCommerce, Bluehost sweetens their plans with some extras, including the ones listed in the table above, plus also something they call their “Commerce Solution,” which does come with a number of interesting features:

If you’re looking to set up your first online store, these features can be invaluable.
The real question here is whether those extras are worth paying $8 to $10 more per month over regular shared WordPress hosting. For new users, this extra expense can pay off big time, but if you know your way around WordPress, it may be unnecessary.
Which WooCommerce hosting plan you should get: 🏆 Unless you specifically need multi-channel inventory management or an excessive amount of storage space, then the Online Store plan offers the best value for most people who are just getting started with WooCommerce.
WordPress cloud hosting
So far, the WordPress plans we’ve talked about were pretty standard. However, with cloud hosting, you get a managed WordPress experience with a whole lot of extra features to sweeten the deal. Bluehost pricing for cloud hosting plans starts at $49.99 per month:
Cloud 10 | Cloud 25 | Cloud 50 |
---|---|---|
Starts at $49.99 / mo. | $89.99 / mo. | $109.99 / mo. |
Renews at $109.99 / mo. | $169.99 / mo. | $249.99 / mo. |
10 websites | 25 websites | 50 websites |
125GB SSD Storage | 175GB SSD Storage | 225GB SSD Storage |
20 vCPU Threads | 75 vCPU Threads | 150vCPU Threads |
Ideal for 300k visits/mo | Ideal for 11m visits/mo | Ideal for 23m visits/mo |
Unrestricted Bandwidth | Unrestricted Bandwidth | Unrestricted Bandwidth |
24/7 Priority Support | 24/7 Priority Support | 24/7 Priority Support |
Apart from the plans listed above, Bluehost sometimes makes available their “Cloud 1” hosting, which is a cheaper, entry-level alternative. It’s usually in the $30 range when available.
All of the above plans come with some power features that you won’t find from other offerings. Just to name a few, you get:
- Unrestricted bandwidth
- Global edge caching
- Yoast SEO Premium included
- Premium WAF
- Premium CDN
- DDoS protection
- Anti-malware mechanisms, and more
Overall, this is a comprehensive managed WordPress hosting solution designed for lightning-fast page load times and 100% network uptime. Its system is robust, featuring multi-regional fault tolerance that adjusts easily to the needs of your own or your clients’ websites.
Which Cloud hosting plan you should get: 🏆 If you don’t manage over 10 websites, then Cloud 10 will be a good choice for you. It offers a cost-effective managed solution at $49.99 / mo., a substantial 125GB of storage and 20 vCPU threads, ensuring optimal performance.
VPS hosting
If you need access to dedicated resources and better performance than shared hosting can offer, a virtual private server (VPS) is the logical next step. When it comes to VPS plans, Bluehost offers three tiers:
Standard | Enhanced | Ultimate | |
---|---|---|---|
One-year contract | $56.99 / mo. | $70.99 / mo. | $101.99 / mo. |
Two-year contract | $47.99 / mo. | $67.99 / mo. | $96.99 / mo. |
Three-year contract | $46.99 / mo. | $65.99 / mo. | $94.99 / mo. |
CPU cores | 2 | 4 | 4 |
Disk space | 100 GB NVMe | 200 GB NVMe | 450 GB NVMe |
RAM | 4 GB | 8 GB | 16 GB |
Bandwidth | Unmetered | Unmetered | Unmetered |
IP addresses | 2 | 2 | 2 |
As you can see, these prices vary a lot depending on the contract length that you choose. The most affordable, long-term approach is to go for the three-year entry level plan. This will cost you $46.99 per month, totaling to $1691.64 over the full three years.
It’s also somewhat important to understand that this monthly price has two main components in it: first is the cost of hosting itself, and second is the price of the cPanel license. The price of hosting differs, but the cPanel license is always $12 a month. So, for example, the price you see there in the table above – one-year contract for the entry level plan at $56.99 / mo. – $44.99 of that is the price of hosting itself and $12 is cPanel. You cannot not get cPanel, by the way.
Also, all these plans have different renewal prices too. It plays out like so:
Renewal | Standard | Enhanced | Ultimate |
---|---|---|---|
For the one-year contract | $66.99 / mo. | $97.99 / mo. | $143.99 / mo. |
For the two-year contract | $65.99 / mo. | $95.99 / mo. | $141.99 / mo. |
For the three-year contract | $65.99 / mo. | $95.99 / mo. | $140.99 / mo. |
Now let’s talk the other differences. The main one is the number of resources you get with each plan. On paper, you always want a more powerful system (be it virtual or real). However, you don’t want to pay for a more powerful VPS than you’ll actually need.
I think that the Standard tier is more than enough for most websites or web apps that are getting off the ground.
Which VPS plan you should get: 🏆 Unless you’re absolutely sure you need more resources, the Standard plan is the way to go.
Dedicated hosting
Dedicated hosting plans are usually the most expensive options that hosting companies offer. You’re paying for an entire machine and top-of-the-line performance, so the costs are well in line. Bluehost pricing for dedicated servers starts at $141.19 per month:
Standard | |
---|---|
One-year contract / renewal | $154.79 / $192.32 (/ mo.) |
Two-year contract / renewal | $147.99 / $188.79 (/ mo.) |
Three-year contract / renewal | $141.19 / $188.79 (/ mo.) |
CPU cores | 8 |
Disk space | 1000GB NVMe |
RAM | 32 GB DDR5 |
Bandwidth | Unmetered |
IP addresses | 3 |
At the time of writing this, Bluehost offers only one tier of dedicated hosting. Though this situation changes from time to time, so you might see more options depending on when you visit their website.
If you’re considering paying for dedicated hosting, you need the best performance you can get. At this level of hosting, high prices are a given. With this, Bluehost gives you a lot of bang for your buck, both in storage and RAM.
The plan starts at $141.19 per month with a three-year contract. And, just like with VPS hosting, the price of a cPanel license is included in the overall price tag of the server (again, $12 monthly).
Bluehost pricing for domains
If you’re wondering about Bluehost prices for domains, let’s go over the options briefly. Basically, Bluehost doubles as a domain registrar *. That’s why most its hosting plans include a free domain for the first year bundled in.
But, once the promotion ends, you’ll need to pay to renew your domain name. Therefore, it’s best to look up the price of a domain before you purchase it on a free plan. To do this, simply navigate to the Bluehost domains page and check it out.
Here’s a quick excerpt that shows the pricing of the most popular domains:

The cost of a domain will depend on a few factors, the main one being its domain extension. But, if you want a standard .com domain, it will likely cost between $10 and $15 per year.
* Bluehost registers their domains through another company that’s ICANN accredited.
Which Bluehost hosting plan is the best fit for you?
Although Bluehost is one of the most popular hosting providers around, a lot of its plans are merely clones and rebrands of one another. While Bluehost isn’t the only provider to accuse of this, it’s something to look out for unless you want to pay more for extras you don’t need.
To help you choose the best plan, let’s focus on what type of user you are:
- If you’re looking for budget hosting. Shared hosting is the way to go. You can get hosting at $1.99 per year, locked in for one year – total cost of $23.88 for that first year. Domain included!
- If you’re a WordPress user. Go to Bluehost’s WordPress hosting lineup, but keep in mind that those are mostly the same shared plans.
- For online stores. This depends on your ecommerce platform and the size of your store. For WordPress stores, WooCommerce hosting is best. Meanwhile, smaller stores on other platforms can likely use a shared plan. For larger businesses or enterprises, weigh the costs of VPS vs dedicated hosting, as they can provide you with more secure servers.
- For full control over your hosting environment and high performance. Dedicated hosting or cloud hosting are probably your best bet. However, if you’re considering those, you probably know more about hosting than most people.
